NHLS Financial Awards for Young Hedgelayers

To encourage younger people to take up the skills of Hedge Laying we are pleased to announce the NHLS Award scheme for the 2018/2019 Hedgelaying Season.

This year we are offering awards of £25 to anyone under the age of 30 taking part in a hedgelaying competition or training course.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. To qualify individuals must be under the age of 30 at the time of the event.
  2. There is no limit to the number of claims which can be made for any one individual.
  3. The sponsoring organisation must claim the award and the NHLS will pay the award direct to the individuals.
  4. Claims must be signed by the Secretary or another senior officer of the sponsoring organisation.
  5. Sponsoring organisations are any voluntary group, charity or commercial enterprise which can demonstrate that they have run similar events in the two preceding years.
  6. Claims may be submitted for events which take place between 1st September 2018 and 1st May 2019. Claims will not be accepted for events which take place outside of these dates.
  7. Claims must be submitted within 28 days of the event taking place, and must include the following contact details of the person being sponsored:
    Name, Address, Date of Birth, Telephone Number and e-mail (where possible). NOTE: Any claim for a person under 16 years of age will require the signature of a parent or guardian.
  8. The Trustees of the National Hedgelaying Society reserve the right to refuse an application if in their opinion it does not fulfil the criteria. If you wish to check if your event would be acceptable please contact the NHLS Secretary for advice.

To claim the award:

The sponsoring organisations should send their claims to the NHLS Secretary.


  1. The date of the event.
  2. Once approved payment will be made direct to the award winners.

Contact details then remain on our files until the end of the financial year after which they are removed except where they are a necessary part of our financial records.
