Chainsaw Training

The National Hedgelaying Society recognises that chainsaws are in many cases an essential hedgelaying tool. It also recognises that it is a tool which is dangerous in untrained hands. We therefore encourage all chainsaw users to undergo training in the safe use of chainsaws. Indeed, you will not be permitted to compete in The National Hedgelaying Championship without a current recognised training certificate.

We also recognise that gaining these qualifications is not cheap for young people commencing life in land-based work and we are therefore developing an award scheme to assist young people in gaining the necessary training and certification. The details of this will be published here as soon as the scheme has been finalized.

The Trustees of the National Hedgelaying Society reserve the right to refuse an application if in their opinion it does not fulfil the criteria. Should you wish to clarify whether your claim will meet the scheme criteria before commitment, please email the NHLS Treasurer.

The National Hedgelaying Society is a charity registered in England and Wales and is unable to make awards to persons living outside these countries.
